Dermal Filler

The ever-popular dermal fillers are soft tissue injections used to instantly restore plumpness and health to the skin. Fillers can be used to volumise and contour specific facial features. Dermal Fillers are also commonly used to restore volume to lips and cheeks. Also to reduce dimples in the skin and soften the appearance of facial lines. Then Dermal Fillers we use are all Hyaluronic Acid based, which is a naturally occurring substance found in the body.  

Small amounts of dermal filler are injected into the specific area. The filler is placed just under the skin and will smooth out. A topical anaesthetic cream may be applied to reduce discomfort half an hour prior to your treatment. After the injections, specific areas may be gently massaged. The procedure can take 30-60 minutes, depending on the number of areas to be treated and the volume of product used.  

Once swelling has subsided, the effects of your treatment will continue to develop. You will notice that your lips appear balanced, fuller and more hydrated. You are sure to be delighted with your plump refresh lips. 

•  Allergic reaction or anaphylaxis to dermal filler of local anaesthetic
• Infection or inflammation in the treated area 
• Vascular occlusion leading to tissue necrosis
• Lumpiness
• Tindal Effect
• Asymmetry 
• Migration
• Extremely rare  side effects include blindness

Directly after treatment, you may experience the following to the treated area:

• Redness
• Swelling 
• Tenderness 
• Bruising 
• Bleeding
• Lumps

The above symptoms may be experienced around the treated area(s). However, this should disappear within a few days. Your treatment starts to work immediately but the optimum effect can take 1-2 weeks. 

•  Avoid touching and rubbing the treated area excessively for 24 hours
• Avoid taking Aspirin and Ibuprofen for 24 hours as this can lead to bruising or worsening of a present bruise.
• Avoid alcohol, aerobic exercise, saunas and hot showers for 24 hours after the procedure as can increase the risk of bruising and lead to flushing of the face
• Make-up can be applied 24 hours post treatment 
• If you notice any areas that become pale or grey in colour or if you are experiencing ongoing and worsening pain, you should seek immediate advice from Opulent Aesthetics RT-This could be a sign that a nearby blood vessel has been blocked. This is a very rare but potentially serious complication and treatment may be needed urgently.
