Microneedling

Microneedling is a therapy that involves the skin getting controlled micro- injuries using a dermaroller.  This therapy provokes wound healing naturally. It stimulates the skin to repair and regenerate producing new collagen, elastin and creating new blood vessels to provide nutrient to the area. This treatment can significantly improve the appearance of acne scars, fine wrinkles, stretch marks aged and sun damaged skin. 

• A thorough cleanse of your skin to remove oils and debris. 
• A topical anaesthetic will be applied to numb the skin for 30 minutes prior to treatment, then removed.
•  A deeper cleanse of your skin to ensure greater protection against infection. 
• A Dermaroller is rolled onto your targeted skin area in several different directions. This will take approximately 20-30 minutes. 
• Your skin is then carefully re-examined. 
•  A comprehensive post treatment care advice is then discussed with you

Immediately after the procedure, your skin will look as it is sunburned. Your skin may feel warm and tight. You may also have some ‘roller’ marks. This will start to subside after a few hours with some residual redness for 2-4 days. Skin can feel dry following treatment.

• Protect the skin from ultraviolet damage by applying sunscreen after the first 24 hours post procedure.
• Aim to drink 6-8 glasses of 170-200mls of water a day.
• Apply a suitable moisturiser to your skin after the first 24 hours following treatment.
• Cleanse the skin for the next 24-72hours with tepid water.
• A gentle skin cleanser may be used 72 hours post treatment.
• Always dry the treated area in a gentle way using a clean towel, do not rub, pat skin dry.
• Do make a follow-up appointment(s).

•  Do not apply sunscreen for 24 hours following treatment.
• Do not apply make-up for 24 hours following treatment.
• Strict sun and tanning beds avoidance is advised for 2-4weeks post procedure.
• Ensure exposure to the sun either outside or through glass or windshield is avoided.
• Do not heat the skin (i.e. hot showers) for a minimum of 24-48 hours post procedure.
• Do not exercise for a minimum of 24-48 hours post procedure.
• Do not exfoliate the skin with a wash clothes, facial scrub or cleansing brush for at least 2-4 weeks.
• All types prescriptive skincare including Retinoid, acid products, vitamin A and vitamin C should be avoided for 3 days post procedure.
• Strictly no swimming for 72 hours post treatment.
